[Rosinante disappeared out of the blue one night, though he'd had the kindness to leave a note for Law - well, both of them. Staying on the Strawhat ship feels claustrophobic and chaotic alternatively and he needed some time away to think.
To work, also. Doflamingo has been quiet for so long that it felt like it was worth the risk, and he now feels confident that Sengoku has his back as much as is practical for a man in his position.
The note read simply: "Out for a few days, minor errand SmartSnail will be silenced. I promise I'm fine. Stick together."
When he returns, there's an obvious lump under his coat - his bag must be full of something bulkier than before. It's night once again and though he makes no sound as he walks back onto the deck where the Sunny is docked, he might be seen anyway by any of the Straw Hat crew who are keeping watch.
But on boarding, he heads to where the Laws have been bunking, child and adult. Wakes both up if they're there, with a finger to his lips, then a snap of his fingers to pop up a dome of silence so they can speak freely.]
Hey. You can go back to sleep, but I wanted to let you know I'm back.
[Maybe they weren't sleeping anyway, knowing these anxious idiots. They can talk now or in the morning, but he cares too much about them to let his return be a surprise on waking up.]

Date: 2019-09-01 03:17 am (UTC)Told you I wouldn't be gone long. I didn't miss anything fun, did I?

Date: 2019-09-03 04:46 am (UTC)[They grumpily worried about Cora-san, and waited for information. That's how they spent their time without him.]

Date: 2019-09-03 04:53 am (UTC)So he pushes away from Law, and sits up. He can't cuddle against his counterpart in front of Cora-san. It's weird. Even if he was okay with it a couple of hours ago.] Where did you go?

Date: 2019-09-06 12:19 am (UTC)I've been keeping an eye on Marine movements as well as I can while we've been docked here. Any time in town, I try to listen in. Heard there was a ship headed to an island a couple hours north of here, so I figured I'd pull up one night and borrow a few things. This SmartSnail is modified. They're using different security than the revolutionaries are. I'm hoping we have another couple of days at least to study what comes across it before they figure out how to lock me out.
[Even if it's not as long as that, he did what reading he could on his trip back. If he's especially lucky, the original owner of the thing won't notice it's gone for a little bit longer, but he's not counting on it.]

Date: 2019-09-21 04:22 am (UTC)Law tilts his head when he sees what Rosinante pulls out of the bag, and then nods. This could give them a jump in information in a way that would set them potentially ahead of those controlling the network and security systems. There's just so much to gain from this, even if they don't end up with the answers they expect.] Leave it to you to get things in action. [He looks so pleased, of course Cora-san would be on the ball about things still.] We should get working on this fast. Depending on how stupid the owner is, we might not have long to study it.

Date: 2019-09-23 02:12 am (UTC)[He's only partly teasing - the tech would be almost impossible for someone untrained to be able to understand quickly, or so he imagines. And as bright as the two of them are, machines and anatomy are pretty different. But, hell, any time is a good time to pick up a new skill.]
I think our best bet is to use it for what they were using it for. Monitor messages as they come through, see what information we can collect about World Government operations. Maybe there's a way to copy everything already on here to one of ours, though, in case this SmartSnail has some sort of kill switch in it.

Date: 2019-09-26 06:04 am (UTC)[He doesn't have the skills, not where he'd need them to be for actually being useful to Rosinante now. But he's not without some experience since arriving here. So he might be more useful than expected.] Monitoring is the best bet. I know that you can send messages with pictures and folders through the SmartSnails. So maybe we could transfer other information that way. [He looks to his younger counterpart.] What do you think?

Date: 2019-09-26 06:10 am (UTC)[Is it a brilliant idea to accept random files from strangers? Absolutely not. But Sora, Warrior of the Sea is totally available through some of his friends online and it's a great way to get his comic fix while waiting to be able to buy the hardcopies.] Cora-san, I don't know how to do anything more more complicated than that. But I can help monitor.

Date: 2019-09-27 12:17 am (UTC)Then it sounds like the first thing to do is copy as much of this as possible onto one of ours. That's probably the fastest way to get something out of it. If they still haven't disconnected this from the network at that point, then I'll have you listen in on everything, or read everything, that comes through it -
[He indicates the younger of the two of them for this.]
And take notes. Meanwhile, we -
[now pointing to himself and the older Law,]
can work on sorting through whatever we find.
